- Before paper.….….

First boxes to unpack…
Well everyone, it was bound to happen, and it did!! We had to move from our beautiful spot on the beach.…..Very sad occasion indeed, but also one teeming with possibility! We started packing on the 14th of August. We had two weeks to pack EVERYTHING and one week to UNPACK everything! What a mission! As you can see — this was one section of the shop, where the stamps had to go against the wall. We had about 100 such boxes to unpack — everything in it’s spot!

WHAT AND WHERE AND HOW???
Very, very hard to do if you don’t even KNOW where the spot is going to be.….….…..

The Entrance BEFORE

The Entrance AFTER
Here you can see we are a bit perplexed — 4 days to opening and we seem to be no further than we were!!

Just look at her!!!
The day finally arrived .….….…September 5, 2009! Scrapbook Studio’s GRAND OPENING! We were exhausted — the computers had failed at 6pm the night before and we spent the “Night at the Scrapbook Shop” (sic) trying to save it all, so we we did not feel very BRIGHT AND BREEZY at 8am! But, adrenalin took over! We were so excited! We also kind of neglected to advertise our opening (who had time to do that when you were “organising and RE-organising” a new shop??? We did send out an sms and email to those clients we had details of on the Thursday, and hoped for the best. DRUMROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

HERE SHE IS!! Monica’s Masterpiece!

More of her.….

Beautiful woodmounted stamps.…

Table with specials

So nice and neat.…

View to the left when you walk into the shop…
Just look at that!! She was PERFECT!! All neat and READY TO BE MAULED by eager customers! After about an hour of being open, this is what the shop looked like:

- Getting ready for “pop a balloon”
Just look at them shopping!!
Browsing our wonderful collection of stamps.…
Cuttlebug Mania!!
Lucky draw Grand Prize Winner!!!
At last it was over.….….…we had a
WONDERFUL opening and we can’t thank our clients enough for their support!! We are very fortunate to live in a community that supports each other, and we promise to keep our prices affordable at all times!! We love our shop and would appreciate feedback, suggestions and any comments that can help us make Scrapbook Studio a haven for Papercrafters!!
THANK YOU!!!!
After working our butts off, it was just fitting that we celebrated the end of the day with some BUBBLY!!! CHEERS!

all the ladies in action..
On 25 July 2009 we had another class, inspired by a layout by Bernadette van de Veyeren. All about ribbons and use of paper. It was a challenge to get the ladies to choose so many patterned papers, and we had two beginners! We also had two teenagers — they were stunning! They weather was GREAT — we had a gorgeous view of the ocean and the atmosphere was FUN FUN FUN!

Wonderful choices of paper
I loved all the various colour schemes the ladies chose. From very bright, to earthy tones, and everyone did their own interpretation of the original layout we did. I was especially amazed at how beautiful the BRIGHTS came out — I tend to shy away from those colours, but it just goes to show you — use them!

more colours
I loved the green and orange, and I am sorry that I did not take a picture of the finished layout!

Nettie’s CLASSY layout
Nettie’s layout was divine. She stayed until it was completely finished — and I will let you know that this was only her third layout! She did this all by herself — that is one thing we believe in — it is no use if we do everything FOR you! What are you going to do when you are home alone!!
So, from this, my original, boring layout, to the spectacular creations of the ladies — WELL DONE!!

FINISHED PAGES!!
Well, we had a TIm Holtz “Grunge” class on the 4th of July, while the USA was celebrating independence, we were celebrating COLOUR and GRUNGE!! The ladies had a blast — they really dug into the distress inks, and the creations were spectacular!

those poor inkpads!
The inkpads worked overtime, and we were amazed to see how intense the colours could actually be.

what your hands should look like when you distress.….
Faith wore gloves.….…..only this time we allowed her to — next time she goes BARE!!!

TIm Holtz Distress Stickles working it’s magic…
Adding the wonderful new range of Distress Stickles to the flowers was a very messy experience — the ladies kept on forgetting that the stickles do not dry instantly!

beautiful distressed PRIMA ARTFUL flowers…
Some finished flowers, ready to be added to the covered and distressed Grungebooks..
This class was based on the one Tim Holtz taught when he was in Souht Africa in April 2009, for the Scrapbook Convention. It was spectacular! He is a true artist. Visit http://www.timholtz.typepad.com/ to get more of his MAGIC. Tips, challenges and all things Ranger and Distress, feature there. Also, visit our store for his complete range of products.
